SPQR - Smart Precision for Quantum Resilience

Norway-Italy project on precision-aware compilation of quantum algorithms. Work package leader. Funded at ~1.2M EUR.

International project

Not every operation in a quantum program requires the same degree of precision or error protection. SPQR introduces a precision-aware compilation framework that analyzes quantum workloads, identifies which parts of a circuit are sensitive to inaccuracies, and automatically calibrates accuracy and error-correction strength accordingly. High-fidelity protection where it counts; lighter, cheaper schemes where it’s safe. The result: shorter quantum circuits, lower gate counts, reduced qubit requirements, and computations that are far less exposed to the noise that plagues current hardware.

Within SPQR, I serve as work package leader, with responsibility for the quantum algorithmic components of the framework — including resource estimation, circuit optimization strategies, and the design of precision-aware compilation passes for fault-tolerant quantum systems.

SPQR is funded by the Research Council of Norway (Project Number: 358698), through the Portfolio Board for Enabling Technologies, with a total budget of 12 million NOK (approximately 1.2 million EUR).
